申命记5：22~27
22 “这些话是耶和华在山上，从火中、云中、幽暗中，大声晓谕你们全会众的；此外并没有添别的话。他就把这话写在两块石版上，交给我了。”
23 “那时，火焰烧山，你们听见从黑暗中出来的声音；你们支派中所有的首领和长老都来就近我， 24 说：‘看哪，耶和华－我们 神将他的荣光和他的大能显给我们看，我们又听见他的声音从火中出来。今日我们得见 神与人说话，人还存活。 25 现在这大火将要烧灭我们，我们何必冒死呢？若再听见耶和华－我们 神的声音就必死亡。 26 凡属血气的，曾有何人听见永生 神的声音从火中出来，像我们听见还能存活呢？ 27 求你近前去，听耶和华－我们 神所要说的一切话，将他对你说的话都传给我们，我们就听从遵行。’

Deuteronomy 5:22-27
22 These are the commandments the LORD proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
23 When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the leaders of your tribes and your elders came to me. 24 And you said, “The LORD our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them. 25 But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any longer. 26 For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived? 27 Go near and listen to all that the LORD our God says. Then tell us whatever the LORD our God tells you. We will listen and obey.” ( NIV )

再没有加添别的话(22节)：指十诫即是完备的，不必再多添加什么自己的意见。
领袖和长老(23节)：受指定代表以色列百姓的人，所以指全体以色列百姓之意。
出20:18 “众百姓见雷轰、闪电、角声、山上冒烟，百姓看见就都战抖，远远站着。”
出20:20 “摩西对百姓说：‘不要害怕，因为神降临是要考验你们，要你们敬畏他，不致犯罪。’”
灵修指南
那时，天空雷轰角鸣，火焰烧山(23节;参出20:18)。以色列的领袖和长老不禁对神的威荣心生敬畏，于是向摩西请求代他们前去聆听神的话，并承诺会信守遵行到底(25，27节)。这段重述不但让这些第二代以色列人明白律法的权威性，也使他们明白要谨守敬畏神的心，进迦南后才能面对当地充斥异教风俗的环境，过不犯罪的生活(参出20:20)。
既然是神的百姓，就应该以敬畏的心来到宣讲神话语的地方，每个主日，虔敬地领受神宝贵的话语，在每一天按着神的教导而行。
