从无花果树学功课
32 “你们要从无花果树学习功课：当树枝发芽长叶的时候，你们就知道夏天近了。33 同样，当你们看见这一切，就知道那时候近了，就在门口了。34 我实在告诉你们，这世代还没有过去，这一切都要发生。35 天地要废去，我的话却绝不废去。”
那日那时没有人知道
36 “但那日子，那时辰，没有人知道，连天上的天使也不知道，子也不知道，惟有父知道。37 挪亚的日子怎样，人子来临也要怎样。38 在洪水以前的那些日子，人照常吃喝嫁娶，直到挪亚进方舟的那日，39 *不知不觉洪水来了，把他们全都冲去。人子来临也要这样。40 那时，两个人在田里，一个被接去，一个被撇下。41 两个女人推磨，一个被接去，一个被撇下。42 所以，你们要警醒，因为不知道你们的主哪一天来到。43 你们要知道，一家的主人若知道晚上甚么时候有贼来，就必警醒，不让贼挖穿房屋。44 所以，*你们也要预备，因为在你们想不到的时候，人子就来了。”
忠心和不忠心的仆人
45 “那么，谁是那忠心又精明的仆人，主人派他管理自己的家仆，按时分粮给他们的呢？46 主人来到，看见仆人这样做，那仆人就有福了。47 我实在告诉你们，主人要派他管理所有的财产。48 如果那恶仆心里说：‘我的主人会来得迟’，49 就动手打他的同伴，又和醉酒的人一同吃喝，50 在想不到的日子，不知道的时候，那仆人的主人要来，51 重重地惩罚他，定他和假冒为善的人同罪；在那里他要哀哭切齿了。”
32-35
“Take a lesson from the fig tree. From the moment you notice its buds form, the merest hint of green, you know summer’s just around the corner. So it is with you: When you see all these things, you’ll know he’s at the door. Don’t take this lightly. I’m not just saying this for some future generation, but for all of you. This age continues until all these things take place. Sky and earth will wear out; my words won’t wear out.

“But the exact day and hour? No one knows that, not even heaven’s angels, not even the Son. Only the Father knows.
37-39
“The Arrival of the Son of Man will take place in times like Noah’s. Before the great flood everyone was carrying on as usual, having a good time right up to the day Noah boarded the ark. They knew nothing—until the flood hit and swept everything away.
39-44
“The Son of Man’s Arrival will be like that: Two men will be working in the field—one will be taken, one left behind; two women will be grinding at the mill—one will be taken, one left behind. So stay awake, alert. You have no idea what day your Master will show up. But you do know this: You know that if the homeowner had known what time of night the burglar would arrive, he would have been there with his dogs to prevent the break-in. Be vigilant just like that. You have no idea when the Son of Man is going to show up.
45-47
“Who here qualifies for the job of overseeing the kitchen? A person the Master can depend on to feed the workers on time each day. Someone the Master can drop in on unannounced and always find him doing his job. A God-blessed man or woman, I tell you. It won’t be long before the Master will put this person in charge of the whole operation.
48-51
“But if that person only looks out for himself, and the minute the Master is away does what he pleases—abusing the help and throwing drunken parties for his friends—the Master is going to show up when he least expects it and make hash of him. He’ll end up in the dump with the hypocrites, out in the cold shivering, teeth chattering.”
