马太福音13:53～58
拿撒勒人厌弃耶稣
53 耶稣说完了这些比喻，就离开那里，
54 来到自己的家乡，在会堂里教导人，以致他们都很惊奇，说：“这人哪来这样的智慧和异能呢？
55 这不是那木匠的儿子吗？他母亲不是叫马利亚吗？他兄弟们不是叫雅各、约瑟、西门、犹大吗？
56 他姐妹们不是都在我们这里吗？他这一切是从哪里来的呢？”
57 他们就厌弃他。耶稣对他们说：“先知除了在本地和自己的家之外，没有不被尊敬的。”
58 耶稣因为他们不信，没有在那里行很多异能。
53-57 When Jesus finished telling these stories, he left there, returned to his hometown, and gave a lecture in the meetinghouse. He made a real hit, impressing everyone. “How did he get so wise, get such ability?” But in the next breath they were cutting him down: “We’ve known him since he was a kid; he’s the carpenter’s son. We know his mother, Mary. We know his brothers James and Joseph, Simon and Judas. All his sisters live here. Who does he think he is?” They got their noses all out of joint.
58 But Jesus said, “A prophet is taken for granted in his hometown and his family.” He didn’t do many miracles there because of their hostile indifference.
