出埃及记 16:9~20

9 摩西对亚伦说：「你告诉以色列全会众说：『你们就近耶/和/华面前，因为他已经听见你们的怨言了。』」

10 亚伦正对以色列全会众说话的时候，他们向旷野观看，不料，耶/和/华的荣光在云中显现。

11 耶/和/华晓谕摩西说：

12 「我已经听见以色列人的怨言。你告诉他们说：『到黄昏的时候，你们要吃肉，早晨必有食物得饱，你们就知道我是耶/和/华－你们的　 SHEN 。』」

13 到了晚上，有鹌鹑飞来，遮满了营；早晨在营四围的地上有露水。

14 露水上升之后，不料，野地面上有如白霜的小圆物。 15以色列人看见，不知道是什么，就彼此对问说：「这是什么呢？」摩西对他们说：「这就是耶/和/华给你们吃的食物。

16 耶/和/华所吩咐的是这样：你们要按着各人的饭量，为帐棚里的人，按着人数收起来，各拿一俄梅珥。」

17 以色列人就这样行；有多收的，有少收的。

18 及至用俄梅珥量一量，多收的也没有余，少收的也没有缺；各人按着自己的饭量收取。

19 摩西对他们说：「所收的，不许什么人留到早晨。」

20 然而他们不听摩西的话，内中有留到早晨的，就生虫变臭了；摩西便向他们发怒。

9 Then Moses told Aaron, “Say to the entire Israelite community, ‘Come before the Lord, for he has heard your grumbling.’ ”

10 While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the Lord appearing in the cloud.

11 The Lord said to Moses,

12 “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”

13 That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp.

14 When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor.

15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.

Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.

16 This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Everyone is to gather as much as they need. Take an omer for each person you have in your tent.’ ”

17 The Israelites did as they were told; some gathered much, some little.

18 And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed.

19 Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”

20 However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.

耶/和/华的荣光在云中显现(10节): 光从云彩中照耀出来，显出耶/和/华的临在和威严。
鹌鹑(13节): 属于雉科的一种候鸟。
一俄梅珥(16节): 为容量单位，相当于2.3公升。
太6:26“你们看一看那天上的飞鸟，也不种也不收，也不在仓里存粮，你们的天父尚且养活它们。你们不比飞鸟贵重得多吗?”

以色列人在旷野没有食物吃,就向摩西和亚伦发怨言。于是， SHEN 就在晚上降下鹌鹑，白天降下吗哪给他们作食物(12~14节)，并吩咐以色列人:每人每天收集一俄梅珥的食物，不可留到隔日早上(16,19节)，这样每人都能按着自己的食量收集够用的食物。然而，有人因为贪心就把食物留到早晨，结果食物生虫发臭(20节)。当时出埃及的人口估计最少有200万人，若要按照每人一俄梅珥来计算，以色列人一天的食物总量就要超过4000吨。尽管数量如此庞大，在以色列人行走于旷野的四十年间， SHEN 却天天这样供应他们，因为他是养活和照料袍百姓的 SHEN (参太6:26)。盼望我们今天也能信靠 SHEN 丰盛的供应，不是倚靠自己的努力和能力来生活，而是仰赖天父的恩典，并为他所赐日用的饮食献上感恩。
