以赛亚书49：1～7

外邦之光

1 众海岛啊，当听我言！

远方的众民哪，留心而听！

自我出胎，耶/和/华就选召我；

自出母腹，他就提我的名。

2 他使我的口如快刀，

将我藏在他手荫之下；

又使我成为磨亮的箭，

将我藏在他箭袋之中；

3 对我说：你是我的仆人以色列；

我必因你得荣耀。

4 我却说：我劳碌是徒然；

我尽力是虚无虚空。

然而，我当得的理必在耶/和/华那里；

我的赏赐必在我　 SHEN 那里。

5 耶/和/华从我出胎，造就我作他的仆人，

要使雅各归向他，

使以色列到他那里聚集。

原来耶/和/华看我为尊贵；

我的　 SHEN 也成为我的力量。

6 现在他说：你作我的仆人，

使雅各众支派复兴，

使以色列中得保全的归回尚为小事，

我还要使你作外邦人的光，

叫你施行我的救/恩，直到地极。

7 救/赎主－以色列的圣者耶/和/华

对那被人所藐视、本国所憎恶、

官长所虐待的如此说：

君王要看见就站起，

首领也要下拜；

都因信实的耶/和/华，

就是拣选你－以色列的圣者。

The Servant of the Lord

1 Listen to me, you islands;

hear this, you distant nations:

Before I was born the Lord called me;

from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.

2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword,

in the shadow of his hand he hid me;

he made me into a polished arrow

and concealed me in his quiver.

3 He said to me, “You are my servant,

Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”

4 But I said, “I have labored in vain;

I have spent my strength for nothing at all.

Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand,

and my reward is with my God.”

5 And now the Lord says—

he who formed me in the womb to be his servant

to bring Jacob back to him

and gather Israel to himself,

for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord

and my God has been my strength—

6 he says:

“It is too small a thing for you to be my servant

to restore the tribes of Jacob

and bring back those of Israel I have kept.

I will also make you a light for the Gentiles,

that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

7 This is what the Lord says—

the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel—

to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation,

to the servant of rulers:

“Kings will see you and stand up,

princes will see and bow down,

because of the Lord, who is faithful,

the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

SHEN 的仆人称颂 SHEN ，说他自出母腹就得蒙 SHEN 的选召。实际上， SHEN 所预备的仆人就像是一把锋利的刀，或是磨好的箭一般，借着 SHEN 的预备而蒙 TA 使用(2节)。一个藏在 SHEN 的箭袋之中的人是领受了使/命，为了 SHEN 的荣耀而活的人(3节)。然而，他所经历的苦难使他觉得自己毫无用处，并为此感到悲伤，而 SHEN 却赐给他新的使/命和事工。 SHEN 的想法和仆人的想法截然不同， SHEN 高度认可了仆人所做的工，并提供其继续为 SHEN 工作的机会。 SHEN 帮助仆人继续完成 TA 的事工，即使经历失败和挫折， SHEN 也会赐下重新站起来的力量。 SHEN 所爱的人应当继续承担归荣耀给 SHEN 的事工， SHEN 也希望 TA 的仆人借着担当使/命来成为万邦之光。盼望我们都能够蒙 SHEN 的拣选和使用，即使是无用的仆人，也要努力为 SHEN 做工，归荣耀给 TA 。
