以赛亚书44：9~20
虚无的偶像
9制造雕刻偶像的尽都虚空；他们所喜悦的都无益处；他们的见证无所看见，无所知晓，他们便觉羞愧。
10谁制造 SHEN 像，铸造无益的偶像？
11看哪，他的同伴都必羞愧。工匠也不过是人，任他们聚会，任他们站立，都必惧怕，一同羞愧。
12铁匠把铁在火炭中烧热，用锤打铁器，用他有力的膀臂锤成；他饥饿而无力，不喝水而发倦。
13木匠拉线，用笔划出样子，用刨子刨成形状，用圆尺划了模样，仿照人的体态，做成人形，好住在房屋中。
14他砍伐香柏树，又取柞树和橡树，在树林中选定了一棵。他栽种松树，得雨长养。
15这树，人可用以烧火；他自己取些烤火，又烧着烤饼，而且做 SHEN 像跪拜，做雕刻的偶像向它叩拜。
16他把一分烧在火中，把一分烤肉吃饱。自己烤火说：「啊哈，我暖和了，我见火了。」
17他用剩下的做了一 SHEN ，就是雕刻的偶像。他向这偶像俯伏叩拜，dao告它说：「求你拯救我，因你是我的 SHEN 。」
18他们不知道，也不思想；因为耶/和/华闭住他们的眼，不能看见，塞住他们的心，不能明白。
19谁心里也不醒悟，也没有知识，没有聪明，能说：「我曾拿一分在火中烧了，在炭火上烤过饼；我也烤过肉吃。这剩下的，我岂要作可憎的物吗？我岂可向木𣎴子叩拜呢？」
20他以灰为食，心中昏迷，使他偏邪，他不能自救，也不能说：「我右手中岂不是有虚谎吗？」
9All who make idols are nothing,
and the things they treasure are worthless.
Those who would speak up for them are blind;
they are ignorant, to their own shame.
10Who shapes a god and casts an idol,
which can profit nothing?
11People who do that will be put to shame;
such craftsmen are only human beings.
Let them all come together and take their stand;
they will be brought down to terror and shame.
12The blacksmith takes a tool
and works with it in the coals;
he shapes an idol with hammers,
he forges it with the might of his arm.
He gets hungry and loses his strength;
he drinks no water and grows faint.
13The carpenter measures with a line
and makes an outline with a marker;
he roughs it out with chisels
and marks it with compasses.
He shapes it in human form,
human form in all its glory,
that it may dwell in a shrine.
14He cut down cedars,
or perhaps took a cypress or oak.
He let it grow among the trees of the forest,
or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow.
15It is used as fuel for burning;
some of it he takes and warms himself,
he kindles a fire and bakes bread.
But he also fashions a god and worships it;
he makes an idol and bows down to it.
16Half of the wood he burns in the fire;
over it he prepares his meal,
he roasts his meat and eats his fill.
He also warms himself and says,
“Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.”
17From the rest he makes a god, his idol;
he bows down to it and worships.
He prays to it and says,
“Save me! You are my god!”
18They know nothing, they understand nothing;
their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see,
and their minds closed so they cannot understand.
19No one stops to think,
no one has the knowledge or understanding to say,
“Half of it I used for fuel;
I even baked bread over its coals,
I roasted meat and I ate.
Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left?
Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
20Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him;
he cannot save himself, or say,
“Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?
