纳税给凯撒的问题

19 文士和祭司长看出这比喻是指着他们说的,当时就想要下手拿他,只是惧怕百姓。

20 于是窥探 YS ,打发奸细装作好人,要在他的话上得把柄,好将他交在巡抚的政权之下。

21 奸细就问 YS 说:「夫子,我们晓得你所讲所传都是正道,也不取人的外貌,乃是诚诚实实传 SHEN 的道。

22 我们纳税给凯撒,可以不可以?」

23 YS 看出他们的诡诈,就对他们说:

24「拿一个银钱来给我看。这像和这号是谁的?」他们说:「是凯撒的。」

25 YS 说:「这样,凯撒的物当归给凯撒,  SHEN 的物当归给  SHEN 。」

26 他们当着百姓,在这话上得不着把柄,又希奇他的应对,就闭口无言了

19 The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.

Paying Taxes to Caesar

20 Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said, so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.

21 So the spies questioned him: “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.

22 Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

23 He saw through their duplicity and said to them,

24 “Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” “Caesar’s,” they replied.

25 He said to them, “Then give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

26 They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.

一个银币(24节):罗马帝国所铸造的钱币,一个银币相当于当时工人一天的平均工价,当时的法律规定必须缴纳人头税,并且罗马政府要求犹太人用罗马货币向其纳税。

YS 用比喻斥责了犹太宗/教领袖的傲慢和假冒为善,于是他们巧妙地设下陷阱,意图透过提问犹太人向罗马政府纳税是否正确来陷害 YS 。这是一个非常巧妙的计谋,如果 YS 说向凯撒纳税是合法的,那么犹太人便会群起反对 YS ,如果 YS 说不应该向凯撒纳税,那么罗马政府就会起来反对 YS 。然而, YS 却回答说:“凯撒的归凯撒, SHEN 的归。”这句话告诉我们不仅要全心全意事/奉 SHEN ,同时也不能忽略我们在世上所要承担的义务(25节)。当时的犹太宗教领袖认为 SHEN 和世上的统治者是彼此对立的,但 Bible 却告诉我们一切权柄都在 SHEN 之下。 SHEN 不仅是我们信/仰生活的主人,也是我们社会生活的主人。因此,信/徒在社会生活中也应当忠心顺服 SHEN ,如同在信/仰生活上忠于 SHEN 一样。盼望我们今天也践行“凯撒的归凯撒, SHEN 的归 SHEN ”这一原则。
