24 约翰所差来的人既走了， YS 就对众人讲论约翰说：「你们从前出去到旷野，是要看什么呢？要看风吹动的芦苇吗？

25 你们出去，到底是要看什么？要看穿细软衣服的人吗？那穿华丽衣服、宴乐度日的人是在王宫里。

26 你们出去，究竟是要看什么？要看先知吗？我告诉你们，是的，他比先知大多了。

27 经上记着说：『我要差遣我的使者在你前面预备道路』，所说的就是这个人。

28 我告诉你们，凡妇人所生的，没有一个大过约翰的；然而　 SHEN 国里最小的比他还大。」

29 众百姓和税吏既受过约翰的洗，听见这话，就以　 SHEN 为义；

30 但法利赛人和律/法师没有受过约翰的洗，竟为自己废弃了　 SHEN 的旨意。

31 主又说：「这样，我可用什么比这世代的人呢？他们好像什么呢？

32 好像孩童坐在街市上，彼此呼叫说：

我们向你们吹笛，

你们不跳舞；

我们向你们举哀，

你们不啼哭。

33 施洗的约翰来，不吃饼，不喝酒，你们说他是被鬼附着的。

34 人子来，也吃也喝，你们说他是贪食好酒的人，是税吏和罪人的朋友。

35 但智慧之子都以智慧为是。」

24 After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind?

25 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces.

26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.

27 This is the one about whom it is written:

“ ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,

who will prepare your way before you.’

28 I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

29 (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.

30 But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)

31 Jesus went on to say, “To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?

32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other:

“ ‘We played the pipe for you,

and you did not dance;

we sang a dirge,

and you did not cry.’

33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’

34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’

35 But wisdom is proved right by all her children.”

约翰的MEN TU离开后， YS 称赞约翰「比先知大多了」，说他是为主预备道路的人，又说「凡女子所生的，没有比约翰大的」（26，28节）。然而，施洗约翰在传悔改的洗礼时，并不是所有人都听从他。众百姓和税吏谦卑地来到他的面前，聆听 SHEN 的话，以 SHEN 为义，但自以为谨守律/法、明白 SHEN 旨意的法利赛人和律/法师却拒绝约翰的洗礼，废弃了 SHEN 的旨意，他们就像是街市上的孩童，既不因吹笛跳舞也不因哀歌啼哭（30，32节）。他们把不吃饼不喝酒的施洗约翰说成是被鬼附的把也吃也喝的 YS 说成是贪食好酒的人。我们若总是以自己的意思和方法为中
心，就会活出废弃 SHEN 旨意的生活。甚愿我们今天也能够谦卑地来到 SHEN 的面前·聆听 SHEN 的话，以 SHEN 为义，顺从并成就 SHEN 的旨意。
