以赛亚书28: 23~29

神的智慧

23 你们当侧耳听我的声音，

留心听我的言语。

24 那耕地为要撒种的，

岂是常常耕地呢？

岂是常常开垦耙地呢？

25 他拉平了地面，

岂不就撒种小茴香，

播种大茴香，

按行列种小麦，

在定处种大麦，

在田边种粗麦呢？

26 因为他的　神教导他务农相宜，

并且指教他。

27 原来打小茴香，不用尖利的器具，

轧大茴香，也不用碌碡；

但用杖打小茴香，

用棍打大茴香。

28 做饼的粮食是用磨磨碎，

因它不必常打；

虽用碌碡和马打散，

却不磨它。

29 这也是出于万军之耶和华－

他的谋略奇妙；

他的智慧广大。

23 Listen and hear my voice;

pay attention and hear what I say.

24 When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually?

Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil?

25 When he has leveled the surface,

does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin?

Does he not plant wheat in its place,

barley in its plot,

and spelt in its field?

26 His God instructs him

and teaches him the right way.

27 Caraway is not threshed with a sledge,

nor is the wheel of a cart rolled over cumin;

caraway is beaten out with a rod,

and cumin with a stick.

28 Grain must be ground to make bread;

so one does not go on threshing it forever.

The wheels of a threshing cart may be rolled over it,

but one does not use horses to grind grain.

29 All this also comes from the Lord Almighty,

whose plan is wonderful,

whose wisdom is magnificent.

小茴香、大茴香（25节）：在埃及和巴勒斯坦地区广泛栽培的香料，农夫用不同的方法播种和收割作物，其智慧的根源是神。

以赛亚以“谷物的播种和收割过程”为例，来说明神如何牧养和管教祂的百姓。播种的农夫指的是神，种子和谷物指的是神的百姓；农夫耕地、松土、耙地，指的是神保守和带领自己的百姓；农夫为了收获谷物而用器具打轧，指的是神使自己的百姓成圣的过程。农夫用不同的方式来收获和脱，显明神用不同的方式因地制宜地治理这个世界。神如今也根据每个人的光景因地制宜、因材施教地用最合宜的方法牧养我们成为祂的门徒。盼望我们铭记神是如何用祂的长阔高深和温柔细腻来带领祂的百姓，并全然信靠祂的智慧和大能，相信祂必定会用最合宜的方法带领我们，建造我们成为合乎主用的成熟门徒。
