箴言10：12～18

12 恨能挑启争端；

爱能遮掩一切过错。

13 明哲人嘴里有智慧；

无知人背上受刑杖。

14 智慧人积存知识；

愚妄人的口速致败坏。

15 富户的财物是他的坚城；

穷人的贫乏是他的败坏。

16 义人的勤劳致生；

恶人的进项致死。

17 谨守训诲的，乃在生命的道上；

违弃责备的，便失迷了路。

18 隐藏怨恨的，有说谎的嘴；

口出谗谤的，是愚妄的人。

12 Hatred stirs up conflict,

but love covers over all wrongs.

13 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning,

but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense.

14 The wise store up knowledge,

but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.

15 The wealth of the rich is their fortified city,

but poverty is the ruin of the poor.

16 The wages of the righteous is life,

but the earnings of the wicked are sin and death.

17 Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,

but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

18 Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips

and spreads slander is a fool.

刑杖（13节）：指为了纠正无知的人，需要一定的惩戒。

所罗门说，义人和恶人有着根本性的差异，他称义人为“智慧人”、“聪明人”、“遵守训诲的人”，他们嘴里有智慧，说话合宜，又懂得积存知识，只在合适的场合开口，引导人走生命的道路。而恶人则被称作“无知的人”、“愚妄人”、“离弃责备的人”，他们的口速致败坏，脚走迷了路，需要用刑杖来纠正。智慧人知道敬畏耶/和/华是智慧的根本，因此时常行在生命道上，而恶人不知道这一点，因此将所得用来犯罪（14,16节)。最终，积存知识的智慧人，会透过耶/和/华得到生命的福，而无知的愚妄人则会走向败坏。为这个缘故，信/徒要活出敬畏耶/和/华的人生，用智慧训练自己的嘴唇，也要积存知识，说话合宜，作一个用嘴唇彰显主旨意的主MEN TU。
